Of the ten prized Crus (named appellations), of Beaujolais, Fleurie is perhaps the prettiest, a red wine from the Gamay grape that is as attractive and perfumed as the flowers it is named for – irises and violets in particular. Dominique Piron, one of the stars of the region, has been making our Fleurie for us for over 30 years with astonishing consistency. Chill it lightly to bring out the delicate notes of strawberry and raspberry, and serve with lighter meats, salmon or cheese.
