Fortnum's Beaujolais, Maison Piron, 75cl

Maison Piron is a renowned Beaujolais winery, with 50 hectares of vines around the famous Côte de Py hillside. This historic estate is run by Julien Revillon after being passed on by his friend, 14th-generation winemaker Dominique Piron. Traditional semi-carbonic fermentation and gentle extraction create beautifully perfumed and characterful Beaujolais, from vines grown on decomposed schist and granite. Piron’s wines demonstrate how Gamay, from serious sites and old vines, can produce complex and captivating wines. Our Beaujolais is an elegant red with notes of raspberry, wild strawberry and cherry. It is a joy for everyday drinking and, when chilled, pairs superbly with light meats, charcuterie, fish or cheese. Jasmine Hortop's abstract illustration takes inspiration from the pink granite geology of the Beaujolais region, while reflecting the freshness and vibrancy of the wine.
