Spring Sipping
Spring Sipping
Not sure what to sip this season? Our wine and spirits experts have hand-selected six fantastic bottles fit for your spring festivities (and they’ll be delicious, regardless of whether the sun decides to shine!).
Fortnum's X The Newt Fine Cyder
Exclusive to Fortnum’s, this Sparkling Fine Cyder is crafted using carefully selected dessert apples, freshly pressed and cold-fermented at The Newt in Somerset. Crisp acidity, just off-dry on the palate, with ripe pear, melon and fresh apple on the nose. Serve as an aperitif or pair with mussels, scallops, white fish, mineral cheeses, or spicy curry.
Perfect Pairing: British Goat Cheese
Fortnum's Triple Chocolate Stout, Westerham Brewery
You don't have to wait until Easter to enjoy this rather grown-up chocolate stout. Brewed exclusively for Fortnum's by Westerham Brewery in Kent, with chocolate malt, roasted cacao nibs and chocolate essence, its natural sweetness is balanced by bitter chocolate with hints of coffee and vanilla.
Perfect Pairing: Fortnum's Milk & Dark Chocolate Truffles
Fortnum's Fleurie, Dominique Piron
Dominique Piron's Fleurie is produced from a strict selection of the best Gamay grapes in the area. It reflects the characteristics of a typical Fleurie, a floral bouquet of strawberries, raspberries, iris and violets. Highly coloured, well structured, elegant and smooth; this tender and soft wine is ideal with Spring Lamb.
Beaujolais such as this can be enjoyed lightly chilled, perfect for a spring picnic in the sunshine (fingers crossed!).
Perfect Pairing: Lamb Wellington
Fortnum’s Côtes de Provence Rosé, By Ott
Made by By Ott, one of the most celebrated exponents of rosé in the Côtes de Provence, Fortnum's Côtes de Provence Rosé 2021 is a delicious blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. The grapes are handpicked, delicately pressed in whole bunches and macerated for a shorter period to produce a wonderfully light, salmon pink colour. On the palate there are delicious notes of summer berries with a delightful acidity and light, elegant tannins.
A fabulously versatile food wine, this rosé is ideal if you're planning on braving a barbecue this spring.
Perfect Pairing: Chicken & Ham Pie
Fortnum's English Bacchus, Camel Valley, Cornwall
Bacchus is a grape variety that flourishes in the south of England. At Camel Valley in Cornwall the fruit has been crushed, pressed and cooled under the watchful eye of Sam Lindo to retain all its crisp herbaceous character. Fruit forward and wonderfully accessible, this wine is supremely fresh and crisp with notes of cucumber, citrus, apple, peach and elderflower.
Wonderful as an aperitif, this wine can also be enjoyed with rich fish or pork dishes
Perfect Pairing: Mini Orange Ham with Monarch Marmalade
Fortnum’s English Sparkling Brut Vintage Rosé
Produced exclusively for Fortnum’s by Gusbourne Estate, our English Sparkling Vintage Rosé is crafted from a delicate blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes – sourced solely from Gusbourne’s Kent & West Sussex vineyards. Supremely elegant and finely poised, with country garden aromas preceding crushed red fruits and along mineral finish.
The perfect partner for refreshing salads, smoked salmon, and spring dining in all its glorious forms.
Perfect Pairing: Organic Smoked Salmon
