Our Single Origin Coffee Range

Introducing Our Single Origin Coffee Range
So, what is Single Origin Coffee? In short, it refers to coffee beans that are sourced from a single geographic origin – whether from a specific farm, a single estate, or one region.
And so it is for each of the beans in our brand new Single Origin Coffee collection. Certain to deliver an altogether more interesting sip than your average cup of joe, each coffee in the range is rich with history and provenance and promises a distinctive taste that’s a testament to the land and climate where it was grown, and to the skill and passion of the farmers who nurtured it.
The sustainability stories behind each coffee is what truly drives this new collection – we are immensely proud to be working with each of our coffee growers, from the women farmers of the Asproagro Community in Peru to the fourth-generation producers at the Harley Estate in India.
Across the range of whole bean and ground coffees, you’ll also discover new home compostable packaging with beautiful synesthesia designs. For the uninitiated, synesthesia is the phenomenon of different senses melding together – in our case, it’s used to artistically illustrate the flavours of our single origin coffees in beautiful visual designs.
Join us as we explore the collection and prepare to be transported to locations across the coffee-growing map, from the lush rainforests of Ethiopia and the rocky mountain sides of Yemen to the famous Antigua Valley in Guatemala.
A More Extraordinary Daily Grind...

Peru Asproagro Coffee
Smooth milk chocolate and caramel flavours are balanced with subtle vanilla, hazelnut and lemon notes in this delightful brew. Pair with our Chocolate Caramels Selection Box and enjoy this brew all day long.
This coffee is grown and processed by all women producers of the Asproagro Community under the Café Femenino program, offering support to the local communities and empowering female coffee farmers. Coffee production is tricky in the arid conditions of the Andes in Northern Peru, but a vital cash crop to these local communities. Unfortunately, climate change is very noticeable around here, whether in the periods of extended drought or times of excessive rainfall causing landslides and flooding.

India Harley Estate Coffee
Discover deep, toasty flavours of sweet cocoa, with subtle notes of cashew, popcorn, molasses and pepper. An ideal pairing to our beloved Toffolossus Biscuits, this coffee makes for a superb breakfast brew.
Each bean from this coffee is grown, harvested and processed on The Harley Estate, owned and farmed by fourth generation coffee producers DM Purnesh and DM Shankar with their children. We first visited the family back in 2011 and have a long lasting relationship with these excellent coffee-makers. While India is better known for speciality tea than it is for coffee, it produces some exceptional coffees and is renowned for its high quality “Kaapi Royale” Robusta coffee.

Tanzania Blackburn Estate Coffee
A coffee fitting for any time of day, indulge in this brew’s rich, roasted flavours of dark chocolate and liquorice, balanced by subtle citrus fruit notes. Whether you’re a dunker or a nibbler, enjoy your cup alongside our Chocolate Covered Lemon Biscuits.
The Blackburn Estate is a long-term friend of Fortnum’s which started with a sourcing expedition to Tanzania to meet the Gehrken family. Michael and Tina have farmed coffee here for many years now; the coffee is grown, harvested and processed on the farm, with final dry milling and exporting taking place in the nearby town. In respect of its unique environment, Michael and Tina have set aside 80% of the estate’s land as wildlife preserve.

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Coffee
A delicate roast with elegant and complex berry fruit flavours, this juicy coffee can be enjoyed during any hour of the day. Pair with our Milk Chocolate Truffles to bring out the brew’s notes of sweet caramel and bergamot. This cup is the pinnacle of a classic profile Arabica.
Widely renowned as the birthplace of coffee, this Ethiopian coffee is grown and harvested by small farmer producers in and around Idido village in Yirgacheffe, who deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the local Aricha Washing Station. The traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony is still a key way for communities like the Oromo people to share stories and knowledge, and a striking ritual for preparing and sharing coffee with friends and family.

Colombia El Ata Coffee
An exceptional Arabica, this coffee is ideal for drinking whenever you wish. The rich, roasted notes of sweet caramel are balanced with vibrant notes of apple, cherry and citrus fruits – the perfect pairing to our Morello Cherry & Chocolate Curd.
For the inhabitants of Planadas, a town in Colombia situated in the shadows of the Nevado del Huila, their Ata River has been an inspiration behind songs, has been the setting to many love stories and adventures, and has been part of lives of dozens of coffee growers in the region where they go on holiday to take a rest. This El Ata coffee was born out of the El Jordan coffee program, wherein each individual farmer supplies coffee batches that they have grown and processed to the Community lot.

Guatemala Santa Clara Coffee
Rich walnut flavours are balanced with sweet notes of plum, milk chocolate and red grape in this wonderful coffee. A cup that is best enjoyed in the morning, this brew will pair nicely with our Spanish Orange Blossom Honey – whether you drizzle it into porridge or slather it on toast is up to you!
The Zelaya family and their Santa Clara farm – in the volcanic, and famous, Antigua valley of Guatemala – have been supplying micro-lots of coffee to Fortnum’s for over 10 years. Their coffees are chocolaty and citrusy and provide great single origin brews. The Zelaya family has been growing coffee for over 100 years and for four generations – that’s a lot of beans.

Yemeni Mokha Masar Coffee
Complex flavours of sweet fudge and strawberry are balanced by notes of red wine and citrus fruit in this coffee. Enjoy any time of the day alongside our Welsh Rarebit.
You’re probably familiar with the word ‘mocha’, but did you know it originates in Yemen? Mokha is a port city on the Red Sea coast of Yemen that was long known for its coffee trade. One of the few types of coffees grown in the Middle East, our Yemeni Coffee is grown and processed by 25-30 small producers of the Masar Community under the stewardship of Abdulrahman Hayel Saeed and his Mocha not Mocha program. This coffee is particularly special and historic – Yemen was where Arabica coffee was first commercially cultivated, with beans being brought across the short stretch of sea from Ethiopia.
