Made from a field blend of Cabernet, Grenache, Merlot and Syrah, this characterful red from A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines is a true expression of Swartland’s rugged charm. The winery, set on Kalmoesfontein farm and run by cousins Adi and Hein Badenhorst, embraces traditional winemaking methods and old bush vines planted in the 1950s and 60s on granite soils. The result is a wine that’s perfumed and peppery, with ripe red fruits, spice and a gentle grip that finishes dry and refreshing. It’s smooth on the palate, with just the right amount of structure to keep things interesting. Perfect alongside beef and venison.
