Fortnum's Saint-Romain, Vincent Girardin, 75cl

This Burgundian Chardonnay, made by renowned winery Vincent Girardin, comes from a little-known patch just west of the famous village of Meursault. Saint-Romain is home to some of the region’s highest vineyards, so the grapes did not always ripen fully in the past, but now they offer the freshness and vibrancy that warmer areas are losing. A hint of saltiness, plus the stony note distinctive to Saint-Romain’s limestone soils, enliven delicate perfumes of honeysuckle and ripe pear, a combination that will work well with creamy sauces.
