Fortnum's Rioja Reserva, Bodegas Murua, 75cl

The rules demand that a Rioja Reserva have at least a year in barrel: this one, made from 92% Tempranillo plus Graciano and Mazuelo (better known as Carignan), spends three, followed by four more in bottle. The result is a wine that is mellow and elegant, fruity yet structured, enriched by notes of baking spice, dried fruit, cloves, rosemary and ripe red plums, and entirely ready to drink. Pair with chorizo, stews or mushroom casserole.
