Fortnum's Douro Vinho Tinto, Niepoort, 75cl

Founded in 1842 and still family-owned, Niepoort is led by Dirk Niepoort, whose innovative thinking and rebellious talents reshaped perceptions of Douro wines. The estate produces old-vine field blends from indigenous varieties, grown on steep schist terraces influenced by extreme continental conditions and high altitudes. Gentle extraction, large old oak and a focus on freshness define both their fortified and dry still wines. Our Douro Tinto is a traditional field blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela and Rufete and is aged in French oak for 22 months. Blackberry and blackcurrant mingle with hints of graphite, spices and balsamic notes. Structured and elegant, with a long, refined finish.
