Fortnum’s Claret, Château le Bedat, 75cl

For close to 75 years, the Fontana family have been making wines with care and skill on the clay-limestone soils around the pretty medieval village of Gensac, east of Saint-Émilion in the Dordogne Valley. The family have been a Fortnum’s partner since 2020, and they produce this juicy, approachable Merlot exclusively for us; its silky tannins and notes of blackcurrant and blackberry offer a great introduction to the Right Bank style of Bordeaux. Serve with roast meats or game pie.
