Legendary Lebkuchen
The journey of the family bakery behind our beloved Lebkuchen began in 1935, when master baker Ludwig List and his wife Marie opened a bakery beneath Nuremberg Castle. Alongside breads and rolls, they began crafting the original Elisen gingerbread. In 1954, their daughter continued the gingerbread tradition, opening her own bakery in Scheuerlstraße, Nuremberg. Only gingerbread produced within Nuremberg may be called "Original Nürnberger Elisen-Lebkuchen," a mark of authenticity and heritage.
Over decades, the recipe evolved, and by 1999 they perfected the famous Premium Elisen - made entirely without flour. Now managed by the next generation, brothers Michael and Daniel, the bakery continues to offer their celebrated gingerbread confectionery.
