The Dalemain Marmalade Awards 2025

At Fortnum's, you may know that we like to spread joy, but we also like to spread marmalade as well. It brings us so much joy that we stock 42 jars of artisanal varieties by producers far and wide, more than anyone else in the world. You can imagine that with so many to choose from, settling on a favourite at breakfast can be rather time-consuming.
Every year, we are proud to be a sponsor of the Dalemain Artisan & Homemade Marmalade Awards – an annual event where marmalade enthusiasts battle it out to be crowned the creators of the best marmalade in the world. And this year, we're very excited to celebrate the Awards' 20th anniversary.
Selected from over 3,000 entries from all over the world, including Austria, Monaco, Slovenia, Mexico, South Korea, all around the UK and beyond, this year’s winner is Hitomi Wakamura. Coming to Fortnum’s all the way from Nakano City, Tokyo, Hitomi's win is particularly historic as the 20th winner, as well as earning the coveted Double Gold - the highest accolade. Hitomi's winning jar is the Yuzu & Pear Marmalade, a medium cut jar that's a blend of bright, fragrant yuzu with the gentle sweetness of pear, creating a unique and award-worthy preserve that's perfect with breakfast pastries and toast - or as salad dressing with oil olive and yuzu juice.
As prize-winner, Hitomi's marmalade will be commercially produced and exclusively sold at Fortnum & Mason and Dalemain throughout the year - with 50p from each jar going to the Hospice at Home, Carlisle & North Lakeland charity.
