Fortnum's Old Vine Garnacha, Frontonio, 75cl

Bodegas Frontonio is the project of Fernando Mora MW, one of Spain’s most dynamic and forward-thinking winemakers. He started out with just a handful of vines in his grandparents' garden, which he made into wine in the bathtub. He now works with an impressive 55 hectares across Aragon, Northern Spain and is continually on the lookout for old Garnacha bush vines from remote, mountainous sites. His grapes are hand-harvested and he uses the traditional foot-stomping technique to crush the grapes, which he makes into wines in his 200-year-old underground cellar. His meticulous, low-intervention philosophy produces vivid, perfumed wines of remarkable freshness, redefining perceptions of Garnacha from this historic region.

Tasting Note
This pale garnet wine is mineral and refreshing, with fine tannins, a fragrance of flowers, red cherry, strawberries alongside a hint of pepper, dried herbs and subtle smoky minerality. Energetic, juicy and a beautifully poised.
