Our Châteauneuf has been produced by André Brunel on the classic stony soil of Châteauneuf du Pape, the most important appellation of the southern Rhône. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, and 15% Syrah, the still wine is aged for 18 months, partially in oak and is then bottled without fining or filtration. The heat of the south of France provides a typically rich palate but there is finesse poise and beautifully integrated tannins on the finish.

Magnums Are Merrier...
A magnum from Fortnum’s is more than simply impressive in size. Due to the relatively smaller volume of air in contact, the wine in a magnum bottle actually ages more gracefully, creating additional complexity of aroma and flavour. When it comes to Champagne and Sparkling wines in particular, magnums also produce finer, more persistent bubbles, and are less affected by temperature changes — so the liquid inside can better retain its integrity and all-important effervescence. Or in other words: if your wine could talk, it would tell you that it's altogether more content in a bigger bottle.
