Fortnum's Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, Louis Michel, 75cl

Louis Michel et Fils has been a Fortnum’s partner for over thirty years. A historic family domaine dating back to the 19th century with vineyards in the Chablis heartland. The estate is renowned for its unwavering commitment to classical, unoaked Chablis. Winemaking is in the hands of Guillaume Michel, who explains, "Everything is vinified the same way. The idea is to let the terroir talk instead of the winemaking”. He uses indigenous yeasts, and all the wines go through a natural malolactic fermentation. Old vines and careful parcel selection add depth and texture. The result is linear, saline, precise Chablis that clearly articulates a sense of place.

Tasting Note
The beautiful and intense ‘Butteaux Premier Cru’ comes from 80-year-old vines and offers a distinctive expression of this great Premier Cru site. Lemon, white blossom and green apple combine with a linear, oyster-shell precision. The finish lingers with subtle layers of limestone and sea-breeze.
