Fortnum's Saint-Émilion, Château Faurie de Souchard, 75cl

This opulent yet elegant blend of 70% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, with just a 5% splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, is the second wine of Château Faurie de Souchard, a Fortnum’s partner since 2015. The vines grow on the cooler northern slopes of Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux’s Right Bank: these are sandier soils, which gives the wine its freshness, an essential balance to the rich notes of black fruit such as cassis and plum. This will go well with Daphne’s Welsh Lamb or with cheese.
