Pantry to Plate with Condiment Claire Autumn
If you're anything like me,
autumn is for being cosy.
Big comfy sweaters, crisp morning walks crunching over sunset-hued leaves, and most importantly prepping the pantry for jolly meals around the table.
The Three Condiments Every Autumn Pantry Needs...
Smoky Harissa Peanut Butter | a surprise ingredient
Breakfast: swirled into yogurt with crunchy granola topping. Easy, quick and filling!
Lunch: classic peanut butter and jelly with peach jam on grainy bread because peanuts and peaches work delightfully together! When paired, you get both the spice and the juicy sweetness, without one canceling the other out.
Sweet Snack: my favorite way to use this peanut butter is simply spread on a banana for an extra sweet and creamy kick and topped with some crunchy, flaky salt.
Dinner: added into a rich stew, pumpkin soup, or beef and bean chilli to give it some extra body, sweetness, and smokiness.
Dessert: homemade smoky-sweet PB cups with chocolate! If you're hosting a Halloween get-together, this is a fun surprise element that takes the flavor up a notch from the standard peanut butter cup, without any extra work.

Beetroot Ketchup | a versatile ingredient
Another spooky condiment! Beetroot is naturally sweet with a beautiful deep pink colour so it easily replaces the classic tomato color found in ketchup. Rather than the slight tang of a tomato ketchup, this one is smoother, richer, and good for slathering and/or dipping,
"Condiments are celebrated not for basic survival or calories, but entirely for our love of the sensory impact and excitement they bring to a plate." Condiments are "the class of food that isn't stricly necessary yet to most of us is indispensible."
