Perfect Hong Kong City Picnic Spots
Nothing signals picnic season like a Fortnum & Mason hamper. Discover five picnic-perfect locations to lay your Fortnum's rug mere steps from your work or home.
It has been a long journey to picnic enlightenment for Fortnum's. We’ve been home of the hamper since our foundations in 1707, and we even helped to popularise picnicking in the 18th century English countryside. Reckoning with gloriously unpredictable British weather for centuries, we have established that we’ll find a way to picnic, whatever the weather and whatever the location too. And as the high heat and humidity of our new home Hong Kong dissipates, we've found there's no better time to enjoy an urban al fresco feast.
Admittedly, it may be a little while before we can all safely gather with extended friends and family, but on the bright side, you now need only share your Scotch eggs with your four nearest and dearest. You don’t even need to move very far, as we’ve handpicked a few favourite, easy-to-reach places from Hong Kong’s ample roster of picnic grounds.
And from our famous picnic baskets and al fresco accessories to extraordinary food and drink to fill them with, we’ve also got every picnic essential needed at our K11 MUSEA outpost. You’ll be nibbling and sipping on all your Fortnum’s favourites (socially distant, of course) on a comfy urban spot in no time.
Tamar Park, Admiralty
REASONS TO VISIT
Want your feast served with iconic waterfront views of TST and quirky works of art? Head to Tamar Park – where you’re sure to find a suitable patch on the perfectly manicured green lawns, right at the foot of sculptural installations from internationally renowned artists. Take in the scenery of the classic Hong Kong location, raise your cup and ponder the inevitable question (“But is it Art?”), and wax philosophical while you dine on all things delicious.
WHAT TO TAKE
Our stylish, sophisticated Picnic Rug in a tartan check and our signature Eau de Nil colour will keep any neighbouring art critics oohing and ahhing.

TST Promenade, Kowloon
REASONS TO VISIT
Perhaps the grand dame of Hong Kong waterfront promenades, this is the place to see and be seen. Rub feet (ideally not shoulders) with film stars featured on the plaques of the Avenue of the Stars. Selfies with your favourites are still a must. The ultimate glamorous pit-stop awaits inside our K11 MUSEA shop, where you can replenish your picnic hamper, and be fully stocked for when the light show starts.
WHAT TO TAKE
Our Freezable Champagne & Wine Bottle Holder. For your Champagne, naturally. How else should stars celebrate? This handy, freezable holder in our signature Eau de Nil will keep your sparkly tipples cool.
Victoria Park Sports Green, Causeway Bay
REASONS TO VISIT
Victoria Park is the small green lung throbbing in the middle of the city’s buzziest shopping district. Lively and charming, it’s an all-in-one destination boasting the area’s best tree-lined boulevards – plus ball courts, playgrounds and a picnic-friendly sports green. There is no fresher succour for shopped-out feet than wiggling one’s toes in the grassy lawn. Add a soothing cold drink and your aprés-shopping picnic will be worth more than all of your loyalty schemes combined.
WHAT TO TAKE
Our Fortnum's Drinks Pack With Flask & Glasses. (With a helpful shoulder strap, this perfectly portable set leaves your hands free for retail therapy.)
Kwun Tong Promenade
REASONS TO VISIT
Want some heritage with your hamper? Pop over to Kwun Tong Promenade, a kilometre-long waterside stretch that benefits from a rich, industrial history and panoramic views. Many of Hong Kong’s wares were made in nearby factories; nowadays, there are a plethora of handicraft workshops and galleries that still echo the area’s creative output. Why not join in and exhibit your own edible creations with a stylish picnic display? We’ve got just the rug, too.
Bonus: extend your vernissage to nighttime and watch the art installations – which pay homage to the cargo handling and paper recycling businesses of years yonder – light up.
WHAT TO TAKE
What is a picnic without a Fortnum's Picnic Rug? Specially designed for us, this picnic rug is the perfect base on which to present your delicious masterpieces.
Tai Po Waterfront Park, NT
REASONS TO VISIT

It’s just the place to disconnect and find peace: walled-off nooks, thematic gardens, water features, and even a kite-flying area, will all help contribute towards your digital detox. Climb up the Spiral Lookout Tower to find zen from above, or visit the Insect House and search for bliss in a bug’s life. Sizeable green spaces offer spots to lay down your picnic rug (or yoga mat, should you wish to limber up for a day of feasting).
WHAT TO TAKE
You won’t achieve nirvana without proper hydration. Our double-walled stainless steel Fortnum's Water Bottle. will keep your drink cool during your asanas.
