Elena Deshmukh | Fortnum's Greeting Cards
Elena Deshmukh
Elena Deshmukh is an artist, printmaker and embroiderer who has created an exclusive greeting card collection for Fortnum & Mason
From a charming bauble of our Piccadilly home to a heartwarming scene of a puppy and kitten nestled atop our iconic wicker hamper, each greeting card in our new collection is a work of art by Elena Deshmukh. Elena meticulously designs, illustrates, and prints every card, starting with a delicate pen or ink wash drawing. These are then enhanced with layers of watercolor and digitally scanned to create a harmonious and cohesive design.
“I began my research by visiting the store, taking notes and photographs of the architecture, windows, afternoon tea, clock, hampers and packaging. Hidden within the interiors, I also found decorative bows carved into the staircase, trellis patterns, a little squirrel in the Chocolate Shop and a connection with nature throughout the store. The beautiful exterior of 181 Piccadilly became the colour palette for my new illustrations.” - Elena Deshmukh
Elena kindly shared her sketchbooks and workings with us, and they were so beautiful that we couldn’t resist showcasing them.
