Afternoon Tea Sundae

The Rose Ripple, Cucumber and Mint, Strawberry and Scones and 'Coronation' flavour ice creams are available now to take home from our lower ground floor Food Halls, but perhaps most exciting of all is the fact that our ice-cream experts have combined this delicious quartet into a single extraordinary creation.
Available now in our Parlour restaurant, its name is the Afternoon Tea Sundae, and it's a work of ice-bound excellence and frozen genius that tastes even better than it looks.
First up is the Cucumber and Mint sorbet.
Afternoon Tea at Fortnum’s traditionally starts with delicate finger sandwiches, so we thought it only fitting to transform the classic Cucumber and Mint sandwich into a refreshing sorbet made with cucumber juice infused with mint.
Next is the Coronation ice cream, the most experimental and surprising of all the ice creams, which nods to the famous Coronation Chicken sandwich and is made with mayonnaise (really), spicy paprika, curry powder and mustard (yes, really), all offset by the sweet citrus zing of lemon and lime juice and mango puree.
It's as surprising as it is delicious - and no, thankfully it doesn't contain any chicken.

What's Inside
How It's Made
STEP 1
First, we drizzle our specially-created Afternoon Blend tea syrup onto the bottom of the sundae glass, then twist a cucumber ribbon around the inside, before adding in a scoop of Cucumber and Mint sorbet.
STEP 2
Next, we add another fine layer of tea syrup, followed by the first scoop of Strawberry and Scone ice cream and a layer of fresh strawberries.
STEP 3
Popping candy is then sprinkled in, followed by a scoop of the Rose Ripple ice cream, pieces of rose éclair and a second scoop of Strawberry and Scone.
STEP 4
To finish, we add a little Italian meringue (glazed with a blow torch, of course), half a rose éclair, and half a scone with jam and clotted cream.
STEP 5
Last but by no means least, the whole sundae is completed with the addition of a miniature cone filled with Coronation Ice Cream - our innovative mango and curry flavoured frozen treat - on the side of the plate.
