Petals Picked By Hand
Delicate and versatile, our Rose Petal Chutney utilises a recipe that is exclusive to Fortnum & Mason. What makes this chutney particularly special is the rose petals, which are all handpicked from one garden in Oxfordshire and are grown just for us. In fact, the rose petals used for this chutney are the ones left behind after creating our infamous Rose Petal Jelly.
Each of the petals collected are steeped in vinegar which has been heated with sugar – important to ensure the petals don’t lose their colour and flavour. After being steeped for a month, the mixture is strained twice before it is ready to be used. The sweet petals, combined with tart English Bramley apples, make this chutney perfect with pork or cheese…especially al fresco!
