Founded in 1890 and situated in the heart of Haro, La Rioja Alta draws the best from its tradition and wisdom and combines it with the most modern winemaking technology.
Composed of 90% Tempranillo from 60+ year old vines in Brinas, Labastia and Villalbe and 10% Graciano from Montecillo, the wine then sees four years in American oak barrels made by their in-house coopers. Over four years of bottle ageing is given prior to release.
Savoury wild herb notes segue into a palate that’s focused, balanced and graceful with the concentration and backbone to age well.
Pairs excellently with red meats such as lamb, beef and venison, as well as hearty meat stews. This red wine also works perfectly as an after-dinner drink to accompany a cigar.
13.5% ABV
Please note, this product contains the allergen sulphites.

Magnums Are Merrier...
A magnum from Fortnum’s is more than simply impressive in size. Due to the relatively smaller volume of air in contact, the wine in a magnum bottle actually ages more gracefully, creating additional complexity of aroma and flavour. When it comes to Champagne and Sparkling wines in particular, magnums also produce finer, more persistent bubbles, and are less affected by temperature changes — so the liquid inside can better retain its integrity and all-important effervescence. Or in other words: if your wine could talk, it would tell you that it's altogether more content in a bigger bottle.
