Mellifera: The Dancing Beehives by Arthur Mamou-Mani

Commissioned by Fortnum & Mason as part of the London Design Festival, Mellifera: The Dancing Bees by renowned French Architect Arthur Mamou-Mani is a gleaming homage to the buzzing residents working tirelessly atop our Piccadilly store to produce our much-loved honey.

The swirling display of 3D printed beehives ascends our atrium to an illuminated ceiling made of bioplastics and showcase advances in material innovation and technology. Innovatively crafted from fermented sugar, the components of this installation are fully compostable and aim to highlight the need for rewilding of our urban spaces.

Individual components are now available for purchase to help raise funds in support of the UK’s bee population, with 25% of all proceeds donated to Bees for Development.

Please note only 44 components are on sale. In each order you will receive a full 3D-printed module in bioplastics (PLA - Fermented Sugar) with caps for attachments, 3D steel cables, adjustable crimps to attach to ceilings and a letter of authenticity.
