Established in 1776, Louis Roederer is one of the few, great Champagne houses which remains family owned. Their astonishing collection of prime vineyard sites offers the house ultimate control of quality from grape to glass.
By 1876 the house had achieved such a reputation for quality that Tsar Alexandre II requested they make him an exclusive cuvee. The result was Cristal, the first Cuvee de Prestige. The Cristal Magnum has subtle notes of pears, flowers, spices, mint, minerals and oak, woven into a frame of extraordinary grace and elegance. This beautifully sculpted champagne possesses clarity but with the additional depth of fruit that is characteristic of this vintage. It is a gorgeous, seductive Cristal of the highest level.

A magnum from Fortnum’s is more than simply impressive in size. Due to the relatively smaller volume of air in contact, the wine in a magnum bottle actually ages more gracefully, creating additional complexity of aroma and flavour. When it comes to Champagne and Sparkling wines in particular, magnums also produce finer, more persistent bubbles, and are less affected by temperature changes — so the liquid inside can better retain its integrity and all-important effervescence.
