Gin the Mood
ENTER A WORLD OF PURE IMAGINATION WITH FORTNUM'S GIN COLLECTION, ONE OF THE MOST ECLECTIC AND CELEBRATED IN THE WORLD
We cordially invite you to take an amble through time with us to discover our history and our excellence in gin crafting.
There is no denying that gin was popular right from the start – one might say alarmingly so. During the 18th century the average man, woman (and often child) in London drank two pints of gin a week. Many unsavoury rumours about its powers began to emerge, one of the most extraordinary claiming that it caused women to spontaneously combust. Whether this is true or not is (probably not) up for debate, but our own journey with gin started in the 1840s, when we began selling 'Cordial' gins and gins from Holland.
However, gin's reputation amongst high society didn't start to take off until after the First World War. Once relegated mostly to the punch bowl at social gatherings, this ugly duckling of a drink blossomed thanks to the craze for American cocktails that was sweeping a Roaring Blighty. It was now being invited to all the extravagant parties and mixing where all the best spirits mixed.
From here we began stocking orange gin in the 1930s, and ever since Fortnum's has been at the forefront of creating the most exciting, one-of-a-kind gin concoctions. Today we can lay claim to one of the most eclectic gin collections in the UK, with the most comprehensive ranges of own-label gins too.

While our gins hail from all the corners of our cornerless world, we take particular pride in those that are created rather closer to home – including our London Dry Gin, hand-crafted just three miles from Piccadilly, or our Honey & Violet variety, made using honey and wildflowers harvested from our rooftop.
We haven't stopped being creative with this once-maligned drink. That innovative Fortnum's spirit has very much kicked in, and now we have a spectacular selection of gin flavoured treats too. From chocolate and marmalade to our Gin and Tonic Oddi-tea (because how could we not do tea?), we've helpfully picked some gin-packed delights.
And what's more, we're pleased to say that to our knowledge, we haven’t had a single Fortnum's customer explode unexpectedly from one of our creations. If any have, we wish them a speedy recovery.

| 1 | Lime, Orange and Gin Marmalade | |
|
A match marmalade in heaven, we've been immersed in this sticky-sweet delight for many years. In this citrusy mix, lime and orange collide with gin and Angostura bitters for a refreshing taste that reaches new heights. |

| 6 | Gin and Tonic Oddi-tea | |
|
Brew a tipple that won’t make you topple with our aforementioned Gin and Tonic Oddi-tea, a beautiful blend of green tea with real juniper berries and handpicked botanicals including coriander, fennel and lemon balm. |

| 7 | Gin & Tonic Nuts | |
|
If you're into something with a bit more of a bite, you'll go nuts for our Gin & Tonic nuts. Roasted and then seasoned with lemon and juniper for a smattering of citrusy flavour, they're perfect for sprinkling over chicken salads or for chomping alongside a tall cold drink. |

| 8 | Honey & Violet Gin | |
|
We’ve harvested the honey and plucked the wildflowers from our Piccadilly rooftop garden to infuse into this exclusive Honey & Violet gin. Combined with nine hand-picked botanicals and cultivated at a distillery in the Scottish countryside, its palate is subtly sweet, complemented by savoury herbaceous notes and warming roots of wood aven. |
