Across our three centuries of celebrations, we’ve seen plenty of festive treats go from familiar favourite to lesser-spotted Christmas curiosity.* But not gingerbread.

Sweet, warming and gently spiced, it’s deliciously Christmassy. In fact, there are few things we like more than a gingery teatime treat. Or tipple, for that matter.

And so, centuries since we first emphasised the importance of a little Yuletide gingerbread, we’re making 2026 the Year of Gingerbread, and filling the season with all manner of ginger-inspired wonders.
