Fortnum's Jurancon Moelleux, Domaine Cauhape, 37.5cl

Nestled in the verdant foothills of the Pyrenees, Domaine Cauhape is among France’s top sweet wine producers. Harnessing altitude, soil and climate to produce dessert wines of rare freshness. Here, Petit Manseng is left on the vine until November to concentrate the natural sugars, and then hand-harvested from tiny yields. The fruit is vinified in oak and matured for 18 months before bottling. Due to the proximity of the mountain range, with its accompanying high altitude, and cool temperatures, Jurancon Moelleux is blessed with a naturally high acidity – delivering aromatic notes of crisp quince and pineapple with a fresh zingy finish on the palate. Best served chilled in a wide wine glass, this dessert wine is the perfect companion for sheep’s cheese, nougat and tarte tartin.
