Fortnum's Tokaji 5 Puttonyos, Pajzos Tokaji, 50cl

From a thousand-year-old volcanic wine region in Hungary, north-east of Budapest, comes this incandescent sweet wine made by Pajzos Tokaj, one of the area’s great producers. Made from hand-selected Furmint grapes that have been shrivelled to concentrated, honeyed power by the famous botrytis or ‘noble rot’, the wine is heady with perfumes of orange peel, figs and cinnamon, its sweetness balanced by beautiful acidity. It will compliment pâtés, blue cheese or fruit desserts. It is at its best when lightly chilled.
