Our Best Teas to Cold Brew

Our Favourite Blends to Drink Cold
As the weather heats up it may seem that the time has come to ditch your beloved hot brew and opt for something cooler. But as teatime connoisseurs, we are happy to announce that you can still enjoy many blends throughout the summertime, even in a heat wave.
Whether it's a cold brew, iced tea or something sweet and scented, keep reading to find out how to do it properly – and discover some of the pleasing benefits too.
Cold Brew
While hot water extracts more of the bitter-tasting tannins from your tea, brewing your favourite tea in cold water will extract all of the flavour from the tea without any of the bitterness, with the added benefit of a lower caffeine content.
This makes green teas like Gunpowder or Genmaicha perfect candidates for cold brewing – and add to that, cold water preserves even more antioxidants. Teas such as Oolong are also lovely when cool.
How to Brew
It really is easy. Simply infuse your tea (either loose leaf or bags) in cold water for an hour, or otherwise leave it overnight in the fridge.
Iced Tea
Garden parties, BBQs, impromptu sun-worshipping with the neighbours; whatever the occasion, Iced Tea always returns to favour at this time of year.
With so many exquisite tea varieties to choose from here at Fortnum’s, we are forever fans of chilling our preferred brew, before chilling with it in the garden.
Cold Brew Infusions
Specifically created for warm weather sipping, discover our new Cold Brew Infusions in three delicious flavours.
How to Brew
Simply pop one bag into a water bottle or iced tea jug, let it infuse for a few minutes, and it will be ready to enjoy.
What's more, each of our infusions comes in 100% home compostable packaging, made from sustainably sourced cardboard and plant-based film. The teabag is also made from plants and can be disposed of with your food waste collection.
Our Summery Scented Teas
Of all the senses, smell is arguably the most evocative, and our scented teas comprise a glorious selection of beautiful aromas and flavours reminiscent of sun-warmed English gardens and lazy days under the dappled shade of a lemon tree.
How to Brew
To enjoy these delightful new sippable innovations of ours, simply heat freshly-drawn water to 85°C for the green teas and 100°C for black teas, use one tea bag per person and brew for 1-3 minutes.
These fragrant brews are at their finest without milk.
