Eligible recipe submissions

Whilst a traditional ‘pudding’ is typically steamed or boiled, we are accepting a wide range of entries, be it layered or rolled, a pie or crumble, a cake or tart - the Platinum Pudding Competition is open to interpretation; however, your recipe submission should be sweet rather than savoury. If in doubt, just imagine the winning dish served for Afternoon Tea or after the main course.

How to enter

To enter, submit a recipe, a brief description, and an optional photo of a pudding via the online form found on the Jubilee Pudding page on the F&M website.

- It must be hand-made (electric whisks and other commonplace gadgets are fine!)

Any entries that fail to meet the criteria above shall be void and shall be excluded from entry into the competition.

There is a limit of only entry per person. If entrants submit more than one entry, only the first will be judged and all other shall be disregarded.

Selection Criteria

All competition entries shall be judged based on the following criteria:

It Tastes Just Right
While our judges won’t be able to taste your pudding unless it makes it to the ‘live bake’ of the final round, you do need to ensure the ingredients list is 100% accurate - even a degree of imprecision will affect the flavour. And of course, it should taste, well, delicious.

Perfect for Home Bakers
Your pudding needs to be easy enough for people everywhere to recreate at home! Try to use ingredients and kitchen equipment readily available to people all over the world, rather than fancy gadgets and rare flowers only grown in your back garden.

A Memorable Story
A good pudding is made with passion and pride, so we’d love to hear the story behind your entry. Perhaps the recipe was inspired by Her Majesty The Queen’s life, has been handed down through the generations of your family, or recalls one of your own special memories.

Fit for The Queen
The proof of the pudding may be in the eating, but this one will be served to The Queen, so it needs to look the part. A few final decorative flourishes always help – and make sure your photograph is nice and clear too for our judges to see your masterpiece in all its glory.

Winner selection

There will be a three-stage process to select a winner and all judging will be based on the Selection Criteria above:

First round
All entries will initially be judged by F&M’s own in-house chefs who will shortlist the 30-50 best entries.

Second round
The shortlisted 30-50 entries will be shared with a second judging panel who will select five finalists.

The final
The five finalists will be invited to Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly, London to bake their recipe for a judging panel who will select a winner.

The decision of the judges and judging panels above regarding any aspect of the competition is final and binding.
