Croft is the oldest Port wine producer trading today, dating from 1588, the very year that the Spanish Armada was defeated by Sir Francis Drake. Quinta da Roeda is the cornerstone of Croft’s reputation as a producer of superb vintage and vintage-style Ports. Being the most select wine to come solely from the quinta, a Quinta da Roeda vintage port is the purest expression of the terroir of one of the finest properties in the Douro. This wine has an elegant nose of eucalyptus, mint, chocolate and cedar – with an exotic overtone. The palate is rounded with flavours of prunes and chocolate, and a touch of butterscotch on the finish.
