Our Amalthea House Gins

Our Amalthea Gins
MADE IN PICCADILLY, MEET OUR NEWEST HOUSE GINS
Our 3rd floor at Piccadilly plays host to many wonderful things: our extraordinary Food & Drink Studio, our exciting Cook Shop and Book Shop, even a dedicated space for all things hamper-shaped at Fortnum's.
But if you're a discerning sipper of exceptional gin (and we're very much one of those) then arguably the most enticing arrival on our re-launched 3rd floor is our hybrid copper still: a truly showstopping contraption we've named Amalthea.
Why Amalthea? Well, because it's customary to name your still after a figure from Greek mythology.
We think we've chosen exceptionally well: Amalthea was none other than the goat who fed the infant Zeus. The myth tells that the young Zeus accidentally broke Amalthea's horn while the two were playing. From that moment forward, the horn – known as the Horn of Amalthea or the Cornucopia – would be filled with whatever its owner desired. Our own Amalthea may not have quite the same power, but she's certainly capable of creating an abundance of exceptional spirit.
After copious taste testing, our experts have crafted recipes for two new house gins: our Amalthea Dry Gin and our Amalthea Pink Gin. Each is made using the traditional ‘Single Shot’ method – meaning all botanical ingredients and our rare British Apple Spirit are distilled together in a single distillation. They're each a delicious testament to the boundless skill and patience of our makers...and proof of our enduring obsession with all things gin.
Find out more about each of our two newest house gins below, but be warned: the descriptions alone are enough to send you scurrying to the drinks cabinet, with ice cubes and tall glasses in tow...

Our Amalthea Dry Gin
Crafted in our copper still, ‘Amalthea’, this traditional London Dry is made with an assortment of handpicked botanicals, and dashes of Fortnum’s Earl Grey Tea and Monarch Marmalade. Promising elegant flavours of juniper and coriander, and subtle notes of citrus, rose and liquorice too, our master mixologists suggest a simple serve, with finest Indian Tonic Water.
Did you know? The 'Dry' Gin classification means only water is added to the spirit after it’s been distilled, ensuring no flavourings, aromatisers or sweeteners are present.

Our Amalthea Pink Gin
Also made in ‘Amalthea’, this pink-hued creation adds rhubarb, rose, dried hibiscus and our own Earl Grey tea to a warming botanical base rich with juniper, cardamom and coriander. Bright and fruity with hints of marmalade and apple too, it makes for an extraordinary Gin & Tonic, with finest Indian Tonic Water for company.
Did you know? Our Pink Gin is naturally coloured only after the distillation process is complete, using cherry and rhubarb.
