The Fortnum's Sustainable Gift Guide

As a 312-year-old family-run business it's our responsibility to do business in a way that's sustainable for the next 300 years. We have a rich history of not only championing traditions but also driving innovation to stay relevant to our ever-changing world. Whether it's producing the world's first 'Farm to Store' sustainable chocolate, removing plastic from our ambient deliveries or ensuring that we support small businesses who also take sustainable change seriously, we endeavour to be responsible for both people and planet in all that we do.

With this in mind, we've collated a few of our favourite sustainable gifts into one handy gift guide that is sure to both inspire and delight this Christmas. From plastic-free crackers to waste-free condiments, these are guilt-free gifts that are healthy for both people and planet.

Cold Brew Infusions

In three fruity flavours - Orange & Lemon, Apple & Blackberry and Apricot & Cherry - not only are our Cold Brew Infusions superbly sweet, but they are also sustainable.

Each of our infusions comes in 100% home compostable packaging, made from sustainably sourced cardboard and plant-based film. The teabag is also made from plants and can be disposed of with your food waste collection.

So whether you enjoy them on-the-go or at home, you can sip easily in the knowledge that each of our infusions has been lovingly made and thoughtfully packaged, with sustainability in mind.

Bag For Life

A wonderfully festive gift, our classic Bag For Life has had a seasonal transformation, modelled after the façade of our Piccadilly store. The perfect way to wave goodbye to plastic bags for good, this bag will fit all of your shopping essentials inside and can be used again and again for years.

Made from 75% jute and 25% cotton, this eco-friendly, reusable tote is illustrated with our iconic Fortnum & Mason logo, has a structured cardboard insert and is 100% plastic-free - guilt-free shopping indeed!

Rose Petal Chutney

The new condiment cousin to our Rose Petal Jelly, our new Rose Petal Chutney is a pure distillation of an English summer garden.

Handmade with rose petals from a single garden in Oxfordshire, this delicious chutney is also helping in the fight against food waste as it contains rose petals that are leftover from the production of our Rose Petal Jelly, that would otherwise have been wasted.

Sailboat Chocolate

Produced in the Caribbean by the world's first 'Farm to Store' craft chocolate makers, our new naturally grown and certified organic Sailboat Chocolate is 99% emission-free.

Shipping is a major polluter – responsible for around 2.5% of global carbon emissions – which is why we set out to transport this remarkable chocolate all the way from the Caribbean to Piccadilly using as few emissions as possible. That meant by sailboat, electric van and even as a passenger on a horse and cart too. You can truly taste the quality of this exceptional chocolate that has been on quite a journey to reach us in Piccadilly - it would make a special gift for any chocolate-lover this Christmas.

Tinned Turkish Delight

Not only is our Turkish Delight - made by a family-owned company in Istanbul - extremely delicious, but we're rather excited about the tin it comes in too.

The tin is made in Bermondsey in a 100% solar-powered factory and is recyclable for life - meaning that it will live well beyond being a home for our moreish Turkish Delight and last far longer than the average six times that plastic can be recycled. The bag it comes in is also fully home compostable and the sleeve is made from 100% recyclable cardboard.

Available in Rose or Pistachio flavours, it would make a delicious, sustainable gift this Christmas or a treat to share with family by the fire.

Our Christmas Crackers Are Recyclable Too

We have a long history with crackers - including a stint of having an entire department dedicated to them in Piccadilly, but we'll save that story for another time. While we love all things pullable, we aren't so keen on the waste produced once their contents have been enjoyed, which is why we've made our cracker collections more sustainable and easier to recycle.

All of our crackers and boxes are recyclable, including the paper hats and jokes, with the exception of the ribbons, bows and trims, which can be re-used for decorating presents or something else crafty. Inside each box, you'll find information on how to recycle each element of your cracker, making it easy to enjoy a more sustainable Christmas.
