Marmalade with Everything!

Marmalade with Everything!
JOIN US AS WE IMAGINE A WORLD BEYOND TOAST, WITH A LOOK AT SOME OF OUR MARMALADE-INFUSED TREATS
But first, a trip down marmalade lane, with a brief history of how Fortnum’s came to be so immersed in this sticky-sweet delight. Pardon the mental image.
We first began selling marmalade in 1849 when it was housed in tins, generally for export overseas. The main players were Dundee and Orange, but by 1878 we had expanded the homemade range to include Apricot, Greengage and Quince.
The 1920s saw the introduction of familiar names, including Breakfast and Hunt, and Sir Nigel makes his first appearance in 1931 – a marmalade which was named after stage director Sir Nigel Playfair, who asked for a dark marmalade, with very thick peel.
But as we were soon to discover, marmalade is much more than something to spread on toast. And the zest, as they say, is history…

| 1 | Sir Nigel's Marmalade Shortbread Rounds | |
| Made especially for Fortnum’s by a small family-run bakery in Edinburgh, our buttery shortbread rounds are even more enticing with a helping of Fortnum’s famous Sir Nigel’s Vintage Marmalade. Morning through to evening they’re simply delicious! |

| 2 | Lemon Marmalade Sponge Pudding | |
| One for the lighter palate – our Lemon Marmalade Sponge Pudding calls on the sharp, citrusy notes of whole lemons to make this our most citrusy sponge to date. Topped with a generous serving of our very own Fortnum’s Lemon Marmalade, this wonderfully sweet pudding packs a fresh and zingy punch. |

| 3 | 'She Dreams in Marmalade' Chocolate Bar | |
| Wrestling the jar from Paddington's sweaty paw, our marmalade-inspired bar is taken from our famous Chocolate Library. "In a summer spent soul-searching on a farm in El Salvador, Bella finally finds peace hidden amongst the warm glow of the orange proves..." |

| 4 | Caramalised Red Onion Marmalade | |
| A marmalade made for much more than just breakfast. This condiment is sensational with sausages, and perfect for adding depth to any sauce or gravy. |

| 5 | St Nigel's Marmalade Vodka | |
| Jonathan Hamel Cooke's Dark & Chunky Marmalade was crowned the winner of the 2020 Dalemain Marmalade Double Gold Awards. Irresistibly rich in both flavour and texture, this aromatic, thick-cut marmalade perfectly balances the sweet tang of Seville oranges with sugar and water to create a hearty, yet subtly sweet spread. |

| 6 | The Recipe | |
| Stack the tier high with these delicious and flavoursome treats. Serve warm, with generous dollops of cream or butter at either breakfast or Afternoon Tea. |
