Grossmith, one of the oldest English perfume houses in family ownership, has remastered three fragrances for their Classic collection, using original hand-written formulae from the early 1900s. These bewitching scents, remastered for the twenty-first century, still take perfume lovers on a journey not only in place, but also in time.
Originally created in 1906, this rich, luxurious creation typifies the Edwardian era with its warm, soft, powdery character. Its name, Shem-el-Nessim, is Arabic for ‘smelling the breeze’.
A rich, powdery floral composition on a soft, sensual base, this fragrance reprises the original orris formula using florentine iris, known for its rarity and expense, costing three times more than gold bullion. Soft citrus notes are seamlessly blended with an opulent heart of flowers – rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and powdery orris – which lend a warm enveloping quality to this sophisticated composition. Patchouli, cedarwood and sandalwood combine with heliotrope, vanilla and musk to create a truly luxurious fragrant experience.
