Introducing the Charm of Fortnum's
Fortnum’s first range of jewellery
The perfect gift, Fortnum's exclusive new charm bracelet is inspired by the magic and memories of our fabulous Piccadilly store.
At the beginning of 2014, Fortnum's decided to create Fortnum’s first ever jewellery range - a beautiful selection of charms. We are already famous for our own hampers, teas, wines, preserves and dozens of other luxuries, and interest was growing in a piece of jewellery that lovers of our luxurious Jewellery Department could take home.
As the idea gathered pace – and designs flew between Fortnum's and chosen designer Marisa, creative director at London’s Missoma - the excitement only grew when the jewellery department won an industry award in June. The time was right.
'Charm bracelets have been treasured for hundreds of years, they never go out of fashion and can be passed down through generations,' explained Lucy Streatfeild-Smith, Fortnum’s jewellery buyer. She elaborated:
It’s a gift for all ages, and a really personal one. As well as offering mementoes from trips to our wonderful store, the charms make great gifts for special occasions, for example the Champagne charm makes a lovely gift for a 21st birthday, and the Fortescue teddy charm for christenings.
The Charm of Fortnum's range is crafted from the finest sterling silver, with each charm engraved with the Fortnum's logo. Each of the intricate charms are designed in London and finished with touches of gold or eau-de-nil enamel. In addition to our charm bracelet, we are also offering two lengths of fine chain so each of our charms can also be worn as a pendant.
Each one of our charms represents an icon of our store...
The Knickerbocker Glory
We brought over this fabulous ice cream treat from America to our ice cream parlour in 1954, celebrating the end of sugar rationing.
Named Fortescue by a lucky competition-winner, our little teddy bear is handmade in England especially for Fortnum’s.
The ClockFortnum’s famous clock, first constructed 50 years ago, graces the front of our London store and gathers crowds with its moving figures and selection of tunes. The clock charm is stopped at 4 o’clock and engraved on the back with the phrase ‘time for tea’.
The Hot Air Balloon
Green Park near our Piccadilly store was the site of the first London hot airballoon launch, and hot air balloon designs have long adorned the walls and menus in our restaurants. In 2013 we launched our very own life-size hot air balloon – in eau de nil and gold of course.
The Champagne Bottle
This miniature bottle of Champagne reflects our love of celebration, and our exquisite bottles of the finest fizz.
A beautifully crafted locket with the sentiment “with love” engraved inside, this charm makes a romantic Valentine’s gift.
The Fortnum's Shopping Bag
Our eau de nil carrier bags are often seen swinging on the arms of shoppers around St James’, packed with glorious treats.
This dazzling little skate (designed by Fortnum’s own jewellery buyer) is inspired by our sponsorship of SKATE at Somerset House this year.
Since 1707 Fortnum’s has imported tea and today we sell hundreds of our own blends and infusions. The perfect charm for fans of our famous Afternoon Tea.
Synonymous with Fortnum’s, we have sold wicker hampers filled with luxury treats for 300 years.
