Introducing The World's First Cold Brew Tea Liqueur

While every day at Fortnum’s is a celebration of all things tea, we thought we’d join the whole country in commemorating this year’s National Tea Day with something extra special.

Today, we present the latest curveball in our three centuries of tea history. This curveball can be located precisely where teatime meets cocktail hour – and we’re not sure about you, but it's a line that's particularly blurred at the moment.

The world’s first Cold Brew Tea Liqueur, Fortnum’s X Conker is the perfect accompaniment to low-alcohol cocktails and simple serves – meaning you can shake up your 4pm teatime ritual (on weekends, of course) and impress at your Friday night Zoom drinks after everyone has figured out how to turn their mics on.

To create this memorable tipple, we’ve infused the light, citrus flavour of one of our famous favourites, Countess Grey Tea, into a complex and intricate liqueur.

The Making Of

The process of creating this flavoursome liqueur is just as complex as its layered taste. While traditionally the tea is brewed in hot water, our liqueur is made using tea that has been cold-brewed for over 24 hours – ensuring that every ounce of vibrant flavour is gently diffused from the leaf. It is then expertly distilled in traditional copper pot stills at Conker Spirit Distillery in Dorset, UK.

While packed full of flavour, the liqueur is only blended with our much-loved Countess Grey black tea, New Forest Spring Water and a little sugar, and contains no artificial flavourings, glycerine, colouring or additives – just simple, natural ingredients. Traditionally, quite a lot of sugar is needed to bring sweetness to a liqueur – the natural sweetness of our Countess Grey Tea means we don’t need to add a hefty amount of sugar, compared to many traditional liqueurs.

Tasting Notes

The resulting flavour of our Cold Brew Tea Liqueur is punchy and long-lasting, with the notes of bergamot and orange from the tea present in every sip. The mouthfeel is soft and delicate, and the alcohol is delightfully subtle, making it the perfect accompaniment to low-alcohol cocktails and simple serves.

How To Serve

You can easily enjoy our Cold Brew Tea Liqueur neat, over ice or served long with soda and a slice of peach – or create our Breakfast MarTEAni below, designed by one of our expert bartenders.
