This is a super organic red from the Veneto region of northern Italy that should command your attention. It is a Valpolicella so it consists of the classic Valpolicella grape varieties of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, however the wine is enriched by being passed over (ripassato) the squished grapes of the recent batch of Amarone. This process adds a seductive weighty core to a wine that is brimming full of ripe cherries and spice. We have a close relationship with Corte Sant’ Alda as they make our own label Valpolicella, and we are huge fans of the charismatic owner Marinella Camerani. The winery is stunning, set up high above the Po valley, and Marinella’s wine making is the envy of the region.
