The palatial proportions of this outstanding hamper contain a feast that is fit for the most demanding of palates. Beginning with Royal Fillet of Salmon and a magnum of vintage champagne, the excitements continue with foie gras, caviar and black truffle oil, as well as some superb British delicacies such as York Ham and a range of excellent cheeses. The menu concludes with our magnificent Florentines, Marc de Champagne truffles and our rich and nutty Arcadian Forest Cake. Accompanied by a fine parade of wines and spirits hand-picked from our cellars, this is a supremely luxurious hamper the like of which is rarely seen.

    • This is a single vineyard wine from Tony Jordan's vineyard at Hoddles Creek, a vineyard high in the Upper Yarra Valley, an hour northeast of Melbourne. Mac Forbes is a meticulous producer of small batches of single vineyard wines. He is pioneering a quite different style of Australian wine: something finer, leaner and much cooler than our perception of Australian Chardonnay. We believe it bears great similarity to some of the great white wines of the Old World.

  • Fortnum's Vintage Champagne 2006, Louis Roederer Magnum

    • Our Brut Vintage Champagne is specially produced for Fortnum & Mason by Louis Roederer. The grapes (including Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay) are sourced from the young vines of Louis Roederer and also purchased fruit from the Marne. The dominance of black varieties offers roundness and complexity, while the Chardonnay provides elegance and freshness. This cuvée is a deep gold colour and offers a wonderful brioche character. It is particularly delicious enjoyed with food.

      Champagne Louis Roederer
      Roederer began life in 1760 as Dubois Père & Fils, a champagne firm that came into the hands of Louis Roederer in 1833. A Key event in Roederer's success was when it broke into the Russian market with the creation in 1876 of a special cuvée for the Tsars. This, of course, was Cristal, regarded by many as the first prestige cuvée. Today, even Roederer's entry-level champagne , the Pinot Noir-based Brut Premier, is seen as better than most producer's vintage champagnes.

      It is thought that part of the secret of this success is that, unusually for champagne houses, Roederer predominantly uses grapes from its own vineyards: 180 hectares of vineyards make up some 80 percent of its production.

    • This summer's crop of Rose Petal Jelly is perhaps our most delicious yet. A preserve pièce de résistance, Fortnum's Rose Petal Jelly is made with rose petals grown in a single garden in Oxfordshire. The petals are picked in the evening when they are at their most scented and ripe, and transferred by hand the next morning to the jelly, thus capturing the fine fragrance. Other such jellies use dried rose petals, but they can be chewy, so we prefer to use fresh petals for a more delicate texture.

      Our Rose Petal Jelly is divine with scones and cream or spread on soft, yeasty white bread with unsalted butter. It also works well as a savoury with white meats. Use sparingly – it is so aromatic that less is easily more.
