Undoubtedly, New Zealand’s most celebrated estate. Cloudy Bay showed their Sauvignon Blanc at the London Trade Fair for the first time in 1985, and the reception was so fevered, it kick-started the whole New Zealand wine industry. Their other wines are worth exploring too. The Pelorus Vintage is a deliciously rich sparkler made from the Champagne grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the single varietal Chardonnay wine is delightfully nutty and creamy, whilst the Pinot Noir is savoury and earthy, with supple tannins complemented by red fruit. Allocations are tight, and the Sauvignon Blanc will only be available as part of a mixed case, giving you the opportunity to taste it alongside the competition!
