This is a classic dry Austrian Riesling. The floral, citrus characters associated with this famous grape are very obvious, but the wine has more weight, and is drier than many of the better known examples from Germany and Alsace. Schloss Gobelsburg, with origins in wine production back to 1171, is a leading producer in Lower Austria, 60 miles west of Vienna, in the Kamptal region.
