THE 2012 GREAT TASTE AWARDS AT FORTNUM & MASON

The Great Taste Awards are about to be made once more, and no fewer than 8,807 different products have been submitted to the panel of 350 gourmet experts over 45 gruelling days critical blind tasting. The Guild of Fine Food’s annual awards are the benchmark by which British food producers large and small are judged. The Great Taste logo is a guarantee of quality, provenance, uniqueness and divine deliciousness.

From a raspberry jam that’s superbly sweet and aromatic to a Cave Aged Chutney that speaks strongly of caramelised spiced onions. Passion and skill are here. A Passionfruit Curd that smells – and tastes – simply of passionfruit and Brynmoor wild cherry conserve made by Mrs Doidge of Abingdon from hedgerow gleanings that is at once sweet and tart – elusive and entrancing. The Samsoa Spicy Kerolan Aubergine Pickle smells of Cochin and brings back memories of the delicacy of South Indian cooking.

Fortnum’s has selected over sixty sensational food products that have garnered praise and prizes at the Great Taste Awards. Independent and passionate food producers, chefs, cooks and entrepreneurs from all over the world compete in this supreme annual challenge. Our buyers are a crucial part of the judging process, and have selected sixty of their favourites to feature in the store for your delectation and delight.

Wonderful winners you won’t find anywhere else include our own 3 star gold winning Diamond Jubilee Consort’s Marmalade; Vintage Manx Christmas Pudding by Cocoared; Salted Caramel Sauce (that –yes – tastes only of salted caramel) by O’er the Moon; Perton’s Damson Vinegar, Hurstwood Farm’s Kentish Roasted Cobnut Oil, Cobnut Pebbles by Marc de Marquette, M’Hencha by Sophie’s Baked Delights, Colombia Guata Coffee and the brilliant Brasil BoaVista Coffee.

The date for your diary is MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER, when the range of featured products will be available at Fortnum’s in Piccadilly. Judge for yourself with our tempting tastings, and we guarantee you will be carried away with the quality and deliciousness of our very special selection.

Whatever your taste – savoury or sweet, hand made or exotic, the GREAT TASTE AWARD winners will educate, exhilarate and enchant you.
