In the heart of Piccadilly lies a unique venue that has played host to many unforgettable corporate events: Fortnum & Mason. From the red-carpeted ground floor Food Hall to the eau de nil elegance of the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, every part of the store is available for your exclusive use, and almost any kind of event can be tailor-made to suit your needs.

Fortnum’s is the perfect venue for a corporate event for many reasons, one of which is the sheer style of the store itself. Renovated in 2007 as part of our Tercentenary celebrations, every floor is beautifully designed, with rich fabrics, glittering chandeliers, original artworks and Georgian-inspired furniture and fittings. The different rooms and areas within ensure that we have the perfect space for every size of party, from a wine-tasting for 10 to a party for 1000.

Location, location
Four of our restaurants are available for events – the Gallery, the Parlour, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon and the 1707 Wine Bar – and we also have four further spaces: the Crypt, the Drawing Room, the Tea Tasting Room and our own wood-panelled Boardroom. You can also, of course, hire the shop itself – we have held many successful parties throughout the store, where guests can eat, drink and shop at their leisure. Once the store has closed to regular customers, we reopen for a select group of guests, who are offered champagne and canapés while browsing for gifts – an excellent way to celebrate a company anniversary or other milestone.

Eat, drink and be merry
Another reason to choose Fortnum’s is the high quality of the catering. With our experienced in-house chefs and a store filled with top-notch food and wine, the catering could hardly fail to be first-class. We can provide canapés, tasting dishes and fork buffets as well as formal seated meals. To tempt you further, our suggested menus include canapés such as duck parfait on fresh brioche and artichoke hearts filled with porcini mousse, with lemon tartlets or mini ice cream sundaes to finish. Taster dishes are miniature versions of a full-size plateful, which includes Fountain Fish Pie, Risotto of Forest Mushrooms or Sticky Toffee Pudding with Clotted Cream. Our lunch and dinner menus include such dishes as Warm Crab, Saffron & Leek Tart, Wild Mushroom, Spinach & Blue Cheese Pithivier, Blackberry & Lemon Trifle and a selection of cheeses with Pear Chutney and Fortnum’s Oatcakes. In addition, many corporate events have included our Chef’s Tables, where guests can be served a particular delicacy - shucked oysters, carved ham or salmon, roast suckling pig – with our chefs in attendance to serve and discuss the finer points of each food.

But of course those are only suggestions; menus can be tailored to suit your guests, the season, the event and your own favourite food. Simply call our Events team to devise the menu of your choice.

Specialist events
A corporate event can be more memorable if arranged on a theme, so as well as entertaining at Fortnum's and parties, we can also organise such things as wine tastings, chocolate tastings and tea tastings (which just happen to focus on the things we do best). A group of guests can be guided through a tutored tasting by our in-house expert and enjoy a new gourmet experience, including gifts to take away at the end of the evening. Fortnum’s Crypt, an intriguing, subterranean room with stone walls, often plays host to wine-tastings, where guests can enjoy comparing anything from French wines to vintage port and whisky.

We can also offer a fascinating insight into Fortnum’s history with ‘Piccadilly’s Piquant Past’, a lecture by our archivist, accompanied by a tour of the store, refreshments and a parting gift. Other lectures and demonstrations in our First Floor Demonstration Kitchen could also be arranged; simply discuss your ideas with our Events team to see what might suit your guests.  And don’t forget the Beauty Rooms – any event or even a working lunch can be combined with a visit to our in-store spa, where guests can enjoy a range of first-class beauty treatments in peaceful and elegant surroundings.

The important thing is to indulge your imagination and create an event that will perfectly suit your guests. For example, in the past we have created an environmentally friendly menu with locally sourced, organic food and store guides printed on recycled paper; we have arranged a bespoke perfume-testing and wine-tasting evening; and devised a Christmas afternoon tea for a group of clients and their children, with Father Christmas on hand. With so many resources to hand, there are very few things that we can’t achieve.

Working events
It can be highly productive to get out of the office when training, brainstorming or team bonding, and Fortnum’s can provide the perfect space for just such an occasion. We have a number of elegant and pleasant rooms in which to work and can provide the refreshments of your choice, from coffee and croissants to a full breakfast or lunch (or both). Projectors, PA systems and other essential equipment can be organised as needed.

Added extras
The beauty of our corporate events service is the sheer variety of finishing touches that we can add to make the event truly memorable. We can provide all kinds of extras from flower arrangements to pianists and string quartets to Christmas crackers. We can also create goody bags for guests, containing our best food and drink and personalised gifts.
