New Zealand is now producing wine with as much local typicity as anywhere in France andblessed with the most marginal temperatures of the New World powers, this was always likely. Burgundy drinkers will love this Pinot Noir from the Martinborough Terrace, which offers aromas of violets, cherries and spices and could be confused for a Beaune if the fruit wasn’t so rounded. The Sauvignon is also impressive and surprisingly complex from extended contact with the lees.
