Christmas Day calls for something rather special. From Burgundy we have Domaine Drouhin’s beautifully fragrant and delicate Chambolle Musigny which is our choice for the turkey. If however goose is your game, Robert Chevillon’s Nuit-St-Georges 1er Cru Roncières 1999 is perfect; rich, savoury and absolutely stunning.
From Bordeaux’s left bank, our very refined and pure St Julien, is highly recommended. It is the second wine of Château Branaire Ducru, one of Bordeaux’s stand-out performers of recent years.
From Pomerol we have two stars. The gorgeously decadent Manoir de Gay 2003 which is drinking beautifully, and our newly-bottled and wooden-cased Château Pierhem. It could be a wonderful thing to discover under the tree: to admire, enjoy or lay down for the future.
